Force Suffer Loss at Home to Venom

WICHITA, Kan. — In the first quarter, Wichita and Amarillo were both effective on offense. With 8:28 remaining in the first quarter, Force Quarterback Jake Medlock rushed 14 yards to tie the Venom 7-7. Following that, the defense held strong, forcing the Venom into a field goal situation that was unsuccessful. In the next Force drive Medlock threw an interception with 00:26 left in the first quarter.

The second quarter was a different story. After the Venom QB Nate Davis rushed for a one-yard touchdown, the Force answered with 14 straight points to head into the locker room with a 20-14 halftime advantage. One of those scores, a 3-yard rushing touchdown from RB Tyler Batts with five seconds left in the half. In the second half, the Force opened with an unsuccessful drive followed by an Amarillo touchdown. Force QB Jake Medlock found WR Joe Morrow for an eight-yard touchdown with 5:39 left in the third quarter. The Venom answered with yet another touchdown. The Force had an unsuccessful drive to complete the third quarter with a close score of 28-26.

The fourth quarter was action packed. The Venom opened up with a 25 yard touchdown by Deandre Perry. That was later answered by another completion by Medlock to Morrow. From there on the Venom and Force were back and forth in scoring. With 00:27 left in the game Medlock found WR Harry Peoples wide open in the end zone for a 23-yard touchdown bringing the score to 49-47. But, a final Venom touchdown off of an onside kick with 00:25 put the game out of reach and the Force suffered another defeat.

The Force’s defense made their presence known all game with a total of 54 tackles. Defensive leaders were DB Kiaree Daniels with 10 tackles, DB Chris Hemphill with seven tackles and DB Dontra’ Matthews and DB Kendrick Harper with five tackles each.

Your Wichita Force will be in action again on Saturday, April 1 as they travel to Salina to take on the Salina Liberty in their second meeting this season. They look to become victorious again against the Liberty and break a three game slide.
